Instructor Qualifications

Each College in High School instructor selected by their respective secondary school and approved by SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech is expected to satisfy the minimum requirements for teaching. Instructor approval will be determined with review by the respective Cobleskill Ag & Tech academic department(s).

A high school instructor's credentials, including copies of undergraduate and graduate transcipts, as well as an updated resumé, must be submitted for departmental review, accompanied by the College in High School course syllabus, Cobleskill Ag & Tech Course Approval Form, and other supporting curriculum documentation, as necessary. After initial approval, a Cobleskill Ag & Tech Course Renewal Form and the CIHS course syllabi are required for each subsequent instruction of a CIHS course offerered by the approved CIHS instructor.

Approved CIHS instructors will be granted adjunct professor status for the academic semester(s) in which they teach their CIHS course. Adjunct professor status must be renewed each academic year of instruction through the Cobleskill Ag & Tech Educational Pathways Office.

Grades

The following list of grades are recommended ranges which are associated with grades for graduation or transfer credit purposes. Grading scales differing from those listed below must be included on the CIHS instructor's course syllabi and approved by Cobleskill Ag & Tech faculty. The CIHS instructor must inform the Educational Pathways Office immediately if a CIHS student withdrawls from a CIHS course.

A student may repeat a course ONE time only, unless the Vice President for Academic Affairs grants special permission. The last grade earned becomes the grade of record.

Final Grade Report

All CIHS students will receive a grade for all courses in which they are enrolled. Final grades are available online to the student via Banner Web. Final grades will not be issued if a student has any financial obligations to Cobleskill Ag & Tech.

Course Implementation Guidelines

The general process of initiating a first-time course offering is as follows:

• High school personnel (administrator, guidance counselor, teacher) contacts the Educational Pathways Office (518-255-5528 or EducationalPathways@cobleskill.edu) expressing an interest in CIHS course(s).
• Parties discuss student interests/needs, and review a list of courses available via Cobleskill Ag & Tech CIHS. Both parties identify interested course(s), discuss instructor's credentials, course outline, textbooks and/or resources, outcomes, annual CIHS Academic Calendar, etc. 
• High schools outside of the Cobleskill Ag & Tech service area must complete a Service Area Concurrence Agreement and receive approval from their local institution, if applicable.
• Educational Pathways contacts the respective Department Chair and Academic Dean, providing materials submitted by the high school instructor for review and approval, including:  Course Approval Form, instructor provided credentials, resumé and course curriculum documentation.
• Department faculty conduct a curriculum mapping of curriculum materials and review of instructor's credentials, resumé and syllabi for quality assurance.
• CIHS instructor is approved or denied as an adjunct professor for the semester (or full-year). Approved CIHS instructors complete the required Cobleskill Ag & Tech Confidentiality Agreement and the NYS Oath of Office Form (both provided by the Educational Pathways Office).
• Educational Pathways completes a 5-year Partnership Agreement between Cobleskill Ag & Tech and the respective high school and obtains approval signatures of administration at both institutions, if necessary.
• CIHS course is created within the College's Registrar's Office.
• High school students register at their high school for the CIHS course(s) by 2nd week of school by completing the CIHS Admission Application, and the CIHS instructors complete the CIHS Student Registration Roster, submitting all materials to the Cobleskill Ag & Tech Educational Pathways Office by the dates listed in the CIHS Academic Calendar. 
• Educational Pathways confirms the CIHS Student Registration Roster with the CIHS instructor. The high school collects tuition fees and/or letters for reduced tuition for each student, forwarding documentation and ONE school check payable to Cobleskill Ag & Tech. An invoice for all CIHS course fees at an instituion is available upon request of the Educational Pathways Office. Cobleskill Ag & Tech staff registers high school students for CIHS courses within Banner Web at Cobleskill Ag & Tech. 
• Representative from Educational Pathways visits high school prior to final enrollment, if requested.
• Educational Pathways coordinates course evaluations of newly implemented courses and/or CIHS instructors by Cobleskill Ag & Tech department faculty as soon as possible.
